Juliet Rosetti’s steamy Escape Diaries series—perfect for fans of Kristan Higgins and Susan Elizabeth Phillips—continues as Mazie’s on-again, off-again relationship with certified hottie Ben Labeck simmers out of control.

Mazie Maguire doesn’t need some lousy awards panel to tell her what she already knows: Ben Labeck—the chiseled, 6'3" photojournalist and hockey player who drives her wild—is the Sexiest Man Alive. And she especially doesn’t need the rest of the world to know it, too. Watching every last woman in the Milwaukee metro area throw themselves at the man who shares Mazie’s bed is more than any respectable single lady should bear.

So when Ben has the nerve to “forget” to call for a week, Mazie decides to call it off for good. But as she jumps back into the dating game, Mazie catches the attention of some real bad boys: The Skulls. When the motorcycle gang kidnaps Mazie in a case of mistaken identity, she suddenly sees Ben’s behavior in a whole new light. She’d do anything to wake up in Ben’s surprisingly tender arms one more time—so long as the Sexiest Man Alive doesn’t go and get himself killed trying to save her.

Beautiful Oblivion Reveiw by Globug

 Add To GoodReads

A Short Synopsis:

The Beautiful Disaster and Walking Disaster phenomenon continues in the first heart-pounding new adult romance in The Maddox Brothers series.

Fiercely independent Camille "Cami" Camlin gladly moved on from her childhood before it was over. She has held down a job since before she could drive, and moved into her own apartment after her freshman year of college. Now tending bar at The Red Door, Cami doesn’t have time for much else besides work and classes, until a trip to see her boyfriend is cancelled, leaving her with a first weekend off in almost a year.

Trenton Maddox was the king of Eastern State University, dating co-eds before he even graduated high school. His friends wanted to be him, and women wanted to tame him, but after a tragic accident turned his world upside down, Trenton leaves campus to come to grips with the crushing guilt.

Eighteen months later, Trenton is living at home with his widower father, and works full-time at a local tattoo parlor to help with the bills. Just when he thinks his life is returning to normal, he notices Cami sitting alone at a table at The Red.

As the baby sister of four rowdy brothers, Cami believes she’ll have no problem keeping her new friendship with Trenton Maddox strictly platonic. But when a Maddox boy falls in love, he loves forever—even if she is the only reason their already broken family could fall apart.

Globug's Review

As a huge fan of Beautiful Disaster I was really anxious to read Beautiful Oblivion. This is the first book in the The Maddox Brothers series. You may remember Trent as the brother that Travis called to help watch out for Abby while he was fighting. This is his story. It starts just before Travis meets Abby.

Trent left college after losing someone in a horrible accident. He is huge player like his brother Travis and gets his pick of the ladies anytime he chooses and is never turned down. That is until he tries to pick up Cami. She's a bartender at the local hangout The Red Door. Growing up three brothers and her cousin Colin, she has no problem handling the Maddox boys. She quickly shuts down Trents game.

Trenton is so much more than the reputation preceding him. His personality is so fun loving and playful inspite of the losses he's endured. My favorite moments with Trent are when he is babysitting his neighbors little girl Olive that's only five years old. He totally uses the little beauty to get a date with Cami even though he knows she has a boyfriend.

Cami's boyfriend T.J. spends most of the book too busy to give his time to Cami. There's a lot of secrecy that surrounds T.J. and his job. But you can also sense there's an even bigger secret that they're keeping. I felt a little confused at times trying to figure out what I was missing. Trust me it becomes clear when the author wants it to. Cami and T.J. are trying to make a long distance relationship work . He says all the right things but because of his career he just doesn't have time to focus on Cami. This gives Trenton just the opening he needs to work his way into Cami's life and heart. What Cami didn't know was that Trent has had his eyes on her since they were little kids. He falls hard and fast for Cami and tries not to push a relationship too hard until she's ready to walk away from her boyfriend. He has no idea just how complicated T.J. could make things. But the Maddox boys don't do things the easy way or half way.

I love that as Cami and Trent's story is developing we get bits of what's going on with Travis. He often confides in Cami while she works the bar at The Red Door. Cami and Trent never had a chance at a relationship that was just going to be smooth sailing. Not just because of the secrets she keeps about T.J. but due to her dysfunctional family. Her father has a history of cheating and being physically abusive to her mother when he drinks. She also has three brothers and her cousin Colin that make things difficult. Honestly her brothers are total assholes most of the book. Cami takes the brunt of most family arguments but she continues to try to be there when her youngest brother needs her. This leads to Cami taking a second job at the tattoo shop with Trent. I'm mentioning this in my review because there are a lot great moments in the shop between Trent and Cami and also a couple of awesome characters that work there as well.

Emotions run high when Cami fears Trent was injured or killed in the fire at one of Travis's fights. But the story really meets it's climax when Cami forces T.J. and Trenton to face one another. Fortunately, those Maddox boys love with their whole hearts. It was a great ending to the story and has me anxiously waiting for the next Maddox brother's story.
